What is the best collar for an Italian Greyhound?
Italian Greyhounds have very narrow necks so what is advised is a wider collar firstly for comfort on their delicate necks and secondly to help prevent them from slipping out of their collar.
Types of collars suitable for Italian Greyhounds
I have bought so many collars for my Italian Greyhound Greg and so many of them have been unsuitable. The first problem with most collars are they are just too big, make sure you measure your Italian Greyhound’s neck circumference carefully and that the collar you are looking at goes small enough to fit this.
The second issue I have come across is most collars are too stiff which make it uncomfortable for them to wear. Another problem is many collars are too bulky and where the collar doubles over on itself this causes a large chunky part, which sticks out and doesn’t sit comfortably against your iggy’s neck. Lastly and the worst for me is some materials used for Italian Greyhound collars are not soft enough or smooth. I bought a martingale collar made from a typical material collar fabric on the outside and a Sherpa fleece type material on the inside. I initially thought this would be soft and comfortable for my Iggy but when on walks with him wearing it he got chaffing sores on his neck, which looked very painful. I felt terrible and obviously and stopped using this collar immediately. My search for the perfect collar for an Italian Greyhound continued, I bought many more, all having some sort of issue I wasn’t happy with until I finally decided to design my own. I took all of the issues I had previously come across and worked out how I could prevent this on my collar.

Made in the UK using the softest Italian Dollaro embossed leather handpicked perfectly just for your Italian Greyhound. The leather is flexible yet durable being made double sided for a super smooth and caringly comfortable inside surface which sits perfectly against your delicate pooches neck.
The leather is thoughtfully thinned where doubled back on itself around the solid brass buckle and D ring for a much less bulky, breed appropriate fit, which so many other collars fail to achieve.
I decided to design this collar for my own fabulous Iggy, ‘Greg’, after purchasing endless collars which were meant for the breed but were either too big, too chunky, hard, inflexible and uncomfortable but worst of all gave my beautiful boy chafing sores on his delicate, thin skinned neck due to an unfinished or inappropriate material sitting against his skin.
